Hello again!
Here you'll find a CLIL didactic unit named Go green or Go home. This didactic unit is devoted to students of 4th course of ESO and it deals with the importance of being aware of the current environmental problems we are involved and how to contribute to improve them.
Below you'll find the link to the didactic unit published in Isuuu:
Task 9: ESL Video
Keep an eye on your water usage!
The amount of water taken and wasted is increasing over the years. It is possible that you are wasting water without being aware of. The situation is so serious so we agree that is convenient to deal with this issue to raise our students's awareness of how much water is wasted.
The activity proposed is included in our CLIL didactic unit named Go green or go home consisting of watching a video and completing a questionnaire about water consumption.

Task 1: Publish a summary of the legal framework of the use of ICT in the ESO
Currently, new technologies are completely integrated in our society. ICT is a resource which makes easier our life as well as our job therefore knowing and using it properly will make the difference. We live in a super-connected society whose citizens need is to communicate and to transmit information in real time so electronic devices, computers and smartphones are part of our daily life.
In the education field, new ways of learning involving new technologies have appeared. Current students are digital natives who feel comfortable with the digital transference of information. On account of this situation, the contents of the curriculum have been adapted to the technological revolution and the digital competence has been included, being teachers and students both involved in developing.
The Real Decreto 1105/2014 has defined the usage of ICT as one of the main objectives in the ESO. As it can be seen in the Curriculum of Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y del Bachillerato en la Comunitat Valenciana there are 7 competences to be achieved (linguistic, mathematic, digital competence, learning to learn, social competence and initiative competence) including the digital one.
As it is set in Bloque 5 of the Curriculum of Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, students must be able to look for new information, visit blogs, listening pages, especialised websites or online dictionaries. They must be able to select the most adequate information and organise it individually or in groups, as well as to use fluently resources such as email, audiovisual tools or social media. In this way, the students will develop digital skills and abilities which will help them to carry out a permanent learning throughout the whole life as well as to be completely independent in a technological society.
In terms of teaching, ICT is a fantastic resource. There are endless possibilities and really useful materials to work on developing communicative competence. It is an amazing way for involving students in the learning process and increasing their attention and motivation in the subject.
To sum up, students must be helped to develop digital competence in an ethical way as they will be able to search, select and process information as well as to create and organise essays, texts or projects. To achieve this task, teachers involvement is required.
